The Department of Internal Medicine at the College of Medicine – Al-Nahrain University, in collaboration with the Iraqi Diabetes and Endocrine Association (IDEA), organized a distinguished scientific event that featured a lecture by Professor Dr. Mahmoud Shaker Khudair, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine. The lecture addressed arterial hypertension, covering the latest scientific recommendations regarding its diagnosis, early detection, and treatment strategies. Professor Dr. Mahmoud Shaker also highlighted the strong link between diabetes and hypertension, emphasizing the importance of initiating dual therapy to ensure effective blood pressure control and to prevent serious complications such as atherosclerosis and stroke. The lecture concluded with an important scientific segment on adrenal gland disorders that lead to hypertension, including explanations of modern diagnostic approaches and available treatment options. The event was attended by a number of faculty members and postgraduate students, and the scientific discussions enriched the session and contributed to deepening understanding of one of today’s most pressing health challenges .
