Publishing date :2025-03-01

The Department of Microbiology at Al-Nahrain College of Medicine, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, held a workshop titled "Diagnosis of Viral Infections Using Conventional and Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)" from February 25 to 27, 2025. The workshop was presented by Professor Dr. Arwa Mujahid Abdullah, Professor Dr. Asmaa Baqir Salem, and Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Mohammed Hassan. It witnessed the participation of several postgraduate students and researchers from various research laboratories.

The workshop covered multiple topics, including an introduction to Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) techniques and their types, their applications in research and medical fields, mechanisms for reading and analyzing results, and the selection and preparation of necessary materials for the process, as well as the equipment used in this technique.

The workshop aimed to develop the skills of researchers and students in the field of molecular diagnostics and to promote the use of modern technologies in medical research.
