About the department
Gynecology and Obstetrics Branch was founded in 1987.This branch serves many duties including:

• Training of undergraduate students within the curriculum , lecture presentation methods and modern discussions that keep pace with the guidelines of the international universities ,and the use of skills laboratory including its devices, toys and models in teaching.

• Follow up of the educational supervision of the students in order to prepare them to be qualified doctors who fulfill the Iraqi society health needs.

• Participation in professional work in Al-ImamainAlkathimain medical city, attendance of consultation clinics and cold-cases surgical operations, follow up of the treatment of patients and infertility and In vitro Fertilization (IVF) clinic and attendance of daily discussions and lectures that are offered in the hospital.

• Participation in conferences, workshops and seminars held at the college and other universities inside and outside Iraq.

• Conducting scientific research particularly the applied ones, supervision of undergraduate and graduate students’ research.

• Participation in scientific assessment and shared supervision with other branches of the Master and Doctorate students.

• Supervision of gynecology and obstetrics speciality study of Iraqi Board of Medical Specialties and training of students through clinical sessions, lectures, skills laboratory and periodic evaluation. The Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department in Al-Nahrain University/ College of Medicine is linked to Iraqi and Arab Board of Medical Specialties. Dr. Hala AbdulKader AbdulLateef, (Assistant Professor), is the head of Iraqi center, and a trainer in Arab Medical Board. Whereas Dr. Liqaa Riyadh Al-khuzae (assistant professor) is one of the training supervisors of Iraqi Board students.
