Currently a Principal Investigator in Immunogenetics in the Medical Research Unit, School of Medicine – Iraq, Baghdad , with a focus of brain tumor development, role of cytomegalovirus in the development of brain tumor testing and use of animal models for treatment of brain tumors. Areas of interest and specialization include: Molecular oncology, vaccine development, virology, pathogenesis, neurology, animal models of human disease, viral immune evasion and intracellular/neuronal transport. Expertise includes a familiarity with vaccine development, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), bio-defense and medical topics, data analysis and experimental design, and strengths in public speaking and scientific writing.

Research Interests
Summary
Currently a Principal Investigator in Immunogenetics in the Medical Research Unit, School of Medicine – Iraq, Baghdad , with a focus of brain tumor development, role of cytomegalovirus in the development of brain tumor testing and use of animal models for treatment of brain tumors. Areas of interest and specialization include: Molecular oncology, vaccine development, virology, pathogenesis, neurology, animal models of human disease, viral immune evasion and intracellular/neuronal transport. Expertise includes a familiarity with vaccine development, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), bio-defense and medical topics, data analysis and experimental design, and strengths in public speaking and scientific writing.
The research interests of my laboratory include the understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis of malignant diseases such as glioblastoma, neuroblastoma, and Ewing's sarcoma and also neurodegenerative disorders such as spinal cord injury (SCI), brain ischemia, traumatic brain injury (TBI), Alzheimer's disease (AD), amyotropic lateral sclerosis (ALS), epilepsy, glaucoma, Parkinson's disease (PD), and multiple sclerosis (MS) and development of novel therapeutic strategies for their treatments.

TEACHING AND MENTORING EXPERIENCE
a- 2001-2003: M. Sc. Course in Biotechnology Faculty of Science.
b- 2005-2009: Teaching Assistant in the Medical Research Unit at the Al-Nahrain Faculty of Medicine. I was directing the practical part of the molecular genetics in addition to the practical part of the M. Sc. Medical Microbiology Course.
c- In 2001 – 2002: I have participated in two symposiums for the practical application of HPLC and PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), respectively, both were held at the Al-Nahrain Faculty of Medicine.
d- Participant in the 7th Scientific Conference of Al-Nahrain College of Medicine (25 -27th Nov, 2008).
e- The First Scientific Conference for Al-Razee Center for Research and Diagnostic Kits (30-31thMar, 2009).
